We formally approved our Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Charging Schedule at Full Council on 25 October 2017. It will be implemented on Monday 1 October 2018, to allow a period of transition to the new arrangements.
We also approved the Regulation 123 List and our Instalments Policy at the same meeting which will also be implemented on Monday 1 October 2018.
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a planning charge, introduced by the Planning Act 2008 which came into force on 6 April 2010 through the CIL Regulations 2010. It's a tool we can use to help fund new infrastructure to support the development of the borough. Most new development which creates net additional floor space of 100 square metres or more, or creates a new dwelling, is potentially liable for the levy.
